About Us

Our Story: Knights of Rizal Astoria Chapter

The Knights of Rizal Astoria Chapter is part of the international Order of the Knights of Rizal, a non-sectarian, non-partisan, civic, patriotic, and cultural organization chartered under Republic Act 646 in the Philippines on June 14, 1951. It was chartered in December 2022 in the Philippine Consulate in New York.

Recognized by the Philippine government, the Order of the Knights of Rizal is dedicated to honoring the values, teachings, and legacy of Dr. José Rizal, the Philippine national hero. Our chapter brings this mission to Astoria, New York, where we create a supportive community space for Filipino-Americans and allies.

Our chapter has been growing and active consistently since then.

Our Purpose

Our chapter was established to foster Dr. Rizal’s ideals of justice, freedom, and social responsibility, we strive to make a lasting impact through community service, cultural preservation, and educational programs. In our diverse community, we are a place where people of all backgrounds can come together to honor Rizal’s legacy.

Our Mission and Values

At the Knights of Rizal Astoria, we uphold the principles that Dr. José Rizal stood for: freedom, justice, education, unity, and service. As a non-sectarian and non-partisan organization, we are inclusive and open to individuals who share our vision of a connected and empowered community.

Our Goals as a Chapter

  1. Educate and Empower Our Community
    • Our educational workshops, seminars, and discussions focus on Rizal’s teachings, inspiring the next generation to embrace leadership and civic duty.
  2. Preserve and Celebrate Filipino Heritage
    • Through cultural programs, Rizal-focused celebrations, and heritage events, we bring Filipino traditions and values to the forefront in Astoria, creating a sense of pride for our members and community.
  3. Support Community Initiatives
    • We organize outreach programs, drives, and events to assist families and individuals in need within our community, embodying the compassionate spirit of service that Dr. Rizal championed.
